This revised and expanded two volume set is in fine condition bound in green cloth covered boards with bright gilt titling to the spines, there is some light spotting to the boards. Both volumes are bright, tight, white and square.There is a neat inscription to the front paste down of volume one. The unclipped dust wrappers are in fine condition. Much of the original print run of the first edition of this important history were destroyed as a result of enemy bombing during the Second World War but it was not until this edition, published in 1963 that a completely revised and expanded edition was published.
