Ostensibly, with the ownership signature of Robert Lytton (according to an old bookseller's description which is pasted in). Better than Robert Lytton is a one-page A.L.s. laid in from Henry Folger to Dr. Horace Howard Furness, dated Feb. 19, 1912: "I find among our miscellaneous books a volume of Horace. With two engraved bookplates, the first of John Fiott, St. John's College, Cambridge, dated 1806; and a second armorial bookplate unidentified. Fiott (1783-1866) was the famed British astronomer, one of the founders of the Royal Meteorological Society, and president of the Royal Astronomical Society 1861-63. This is the first Desprez edition of Horace, a durable work that was still being printed well into the 19th century. Little is known about Desprez, a French scholar and a member of the Society of the Sorbonne, other than his edition of Juvenal & Persius Flaccus first published in 1684, and this lasting edition of Horace.
