Dr. M…oll (1862-1939) was a contemporary of both Sigmund Freud (1856-1939) and Magnus Hirschfeld (1868-1935) in Germany, all of them involved in research and writing on human sexuality and its effect on personal psychology. Much has been written on their rivalries and history has assigned Dr. Moll to the other men's shadows. Sexual inversion is a term used by sexologists, primarily in the late 19th and early 20th century, to refer to homosexuality. Dr. Moll's writings, at the time, changed the conversation particularly regarding the relationship to one's childhood sexuality. This work is written in an engaging, comprehensible style. Some observations come across as dated by the material that is over 130 years old. Still, considering the emerging 21st century attitudes on sexuality, this is an important historical document.

Monomanie; Forensisches. - Dr. Albert Moll (1862-1939), deutscher Arzt, Psychiater u. Sexualwissenschaftler. Zusammen mit seinen Kontrahenten Iw…an Bloch u. Magnus Hirschfeld gilt er als einer der Begründer der modernen Sexualwissenschaft (vgl. Hergemöller "Mann für Mann"). Er war einer der ersten Wissenschaftler, die sich mit der Hypnose beschäftigten u. hinaus betrieb die Entlarvung von Spiritisten u. Okkultisten. Ab 1897 veröffentlichte er seine vorl. Untersuchungen über die Libido Sexualis, welche die späteren Arbeiten von Freud deutlich beeinflussten. Freud dagegen bezichtigte Moll des Plagiats, so dass sie später persönlich verfeindet waren. Der 1902 erschienene Aufsatz "Wie erkennen und verständigen sich Homosexuelle untereinander?" zeugt von Insiderwissen. Obwohl Moll dem NS-Staat mit offener Sympathie begegnete, verlor er 1933 seine ärztliche Approbation. Am 23. September 1939 starb er verarmt in seiner Berliner Wohnung; es war derselbe Tag, an dem Sigmund Freud in London verstarb. - Titel, Schmutztitel u. letztes Blatt leicht fleckig, sonst ein gutes Expl.
