Hardcover/Hardback. Condizione: Near Fine. A German cultural and travel work documenting a journey through Franconia along the Main River, authored by Dr. Fritz Lübbecke with photographs by noted photographer Dr. Paul Wolff. Published in 1938 by Velhagen & Klasing, this second edition reflects the interwar German tradition of regional travel literature. The work combines scenic photography with cultural and historical commentary. Its publication during the Nazi period places it within the broader context of German cultural nationalism. Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. 1st Edition. His first published book in which he showed the greatness of the 35mm Leica camera capabilities, tall 4to, VG/VG as chip to top edge of dj else excellent condition, very rare to find in 1st edn, yellow covers, over190 classic b/w photos here demonstrating his extraordinary artistic skill and talent as a photographer. In his book "My Life with The Leica" Walther Benser recalls the period where he would assist Dr. Paul Wolff. Benser was a Leica employee who had gone through the full technical training in Wetzlar and later spent many years traveling with the Leica Slide Show. He recalls: "Dr. Paul Wolff had skills which I found myself envying. Without any optical aid from the Leica viewfinder in the new (Telyt) reflex housing, he could dissect the surroundings with his naked eye in the search for a suitable subject and position. He invariably picked out the perfect spot for taking the picture with the focal length he had already selected". 63pps text in German, spotting to next two, followed by those glorious prints.
