Aggiungi al carrelloOne of a limited edition of 200 copies. As new booklet. 22 pp Stapled booklet in pictorial card wraps, with illustrations. This booklet is one of an intended 15, each being a chapter of a continuation of Ruskin's autobiography 'Praeterita' by Bernard Richards (Brasenose College, Oxford). Ruskin's 'Praeterita' was issued in parts between 1885 and 1889 when Ruskin's increasing ill-health forced its abandonment. However, Ruskin left behind a number of plans for the finished work and even fragmentary pieces, these being gathered together in Volume 35 of the Library Edition. A scheme for the finished work was also produced by Ruskin and Bernard Richards has used this and Ruskin's other materials to produce chapters in the manner of Ruskin's original. There are currently 7 volumes produced, but it is intended to increase this number in future. Each volume contains an introduction describing how the chapter has been compiled and extensive notes and references to sources. The project is intended to complement 'Praeterita' in a manner that reflects Ruskin's own intentions. This volume takes its title from an intended chapter of 'Praeterita', which was intended to present Ruskin's final view of England. The volume is rich in allusions to the white cliffs of Kent, scenes from 'King Lear' and descriptions from other sources. The picture on the listing page is of the actual book for sale.
