The red and gold design of giraffes with necks 'entwined' on the grey/ blue background of the front cover is somewhat faded across the middle. The red pigment on the spine, along with some of the gilt lettering, is a shadow of what it was.The spine itself has a small tear to one side at the top. The binding is good and the pages clean. The photographic material is derived from the portfolios of 70 professional wild-life photographers, and the zoological documentation from the work of some familiar names, British and European, among modern naturalists.
