Damals und in den vorhergehenden Dezennien bestand die Neigung, alle moglichen psychopathologischen Erscheinungen als schizophren und deshalb als 'grundsatzlich unheilbar' zu beurteilen. Immer starker machte sich dann, besonders in Nord-Amerika, die Tendenz bemerkbar, die Unter schiede zwischen Reaktion, psychopathologischer Entwiddung und Krankheits prozeB, zwischen Neurose und Psychose zu verwischen und viele Psychos en, die nicht von deutlich faBbaren korperlichen Veranderungen begleitet waren, als psychogen zu beurteilen und psychoanalytisch zu behandeln. Die klinische Psychiatrie drohte zu Gunsten einer oft unkritischen Psychologisierung der Psychos en einer seits, einer biologisch-pharmakologisch orientierten Psychiatrie andererseits ihren Wert zu verIieren. Dr. FELIX LABHARDT, Privatdozent und Stellvertreter des Direktors der Psych iatrischen Universitatsklinik in Basel, bietet hier eine sorgfaltige klinische Arbeit, in welcher tiefenpsychologische und biologische Betrachtungsweisen aber durchaus nicht zu kurz kommen. Er hat nach dem Prinzip der 'mehrdimensionalen Dia gnostik' jene 61 Patienten so griindlich als moglich nachuntersucht, bei den en ich zwischen 1938 und 1958, wahrend ihres Aufenthaltes in der Basler Psychiatrischen Klinik, die Diagnose auf Schizophrenie-ahnliche Emotionspsychosen gestellt hatte. Die Zahl dieser Patienten nimmt immer noch stark zu, entsprechend den Spannun gen, welch en der heutige Mensch ausgesetzt ist.
