The boards are flat, quite firm, with one small mark to front and bumped spine ends and corners; worn sides of spine. The end papers are unmarked; there is an attractive book plate on the front paste down. The text block is illustrated "with 64 coloured plates (251 figures) by William Foster and 5 black and black and white plates by Roland Green. The coloured plates are very pretty. The pages are quite securely attached and even, a few of the pages with plates towards the rear are tanned around the edges. Otherwise the pages are not tanned, foxed or marked.
