Contains the first known publication of Joseph Conrad's novella "Typhoon" (complete in three installments.) Also contains 11 (B&W) Max Beerbohm caricatures as well as his essays on "The Naming of Streets" and "The Laughter of the Public"; a number of book reviews and related essays by G.K. Chesterton including "Victor Hugo" and "The New English Academy"; G. Stronach's "Did Lord Bacon Write Shakespeare's Plays," and a number of accounts of exotic travel and hunting expeditions -- "Moose Hunting in Norway," etc. (The rather odd 1940 Dorothy Lamour film vehicle "Typhoon" would appear to have nothing to do with Conrad's novel.) 576 pp. Bound volume of 1902 magazine. Reduced from $470. Illustrated by M. Grieffenhagen (illustratore).
