Prima edizione
Cloth. Condizione: Very Good. G. W. Beldam, photographer (illustratore). First American, Third overall. This is the third edition, first American edition, and significantly augmented over the prior editions, of a classic tennis manual and issued at a time that the game was solidifying into what we have today, as reflected in the title, not just with the word, "Modern", but the dropping of the word, "Lawn", which was in the title prior. 8vo. 20.5 by 13.5 cm. xviii, [2], 301 pp. 48 interspersed plates, all b/w photos, not part of the pagination. The green cloth has scattered light, not bothersome, soiling, and small spots of color loss, the spine, slightly darkened. Some of the pages within have offsetting from various things once inserted, such as newspaper clippings and clovers. That said, this is overwhelmingly a clean, and tight, copy, and quite attractive as well. Easily graded Very Good.
