How to Make Profits Trading in Commodities was written to supply what Gann described as a universal demand for rules that would forecast the trend of commodities, the book drew on his forty years of market experience to demonstrate that speculation can be made a profitable profession when conducted on business principles and mathematical rules rather than reckless gambling, a conviction Gann advanced with the fervor and systematic thoroughness of a man who regarded market behavior as ultimately governed by natural law.
