Carlos Zerpa trabajó como diseñador gráfico en la Oficina de Diagramación y Diseño de la universidad a partir de 1977, mientras que Fritz Küper participó activamente en el diseño editorial de diversas publicaciones universitarias de la época.

This volume collects and presents the graphic design work of artist Gerd Leufert (1914-1998), born in Lithuania and trained in Germany, who arrived in Venezuela in 1951 and spent the rest of his life there, entering a lifelong relationship with leading artist Gego (Gertrud Goldschmidt, 1912-1994) and becoming a key influence on Venezuelan art and design. 'During the course of more than thirty-five years of professional dedication', says the introduction to this volume, 'Gerd Leufert has created a series of forms in themselves effectively emblems, that is to say they effectively condense areas of our experience which words can describe only with great difficulty' (p. 9). The book itself was 'designed and conceived' (ibid) by the great Venezuelan book designer Alvaro Sotillo, winner of 20 international prizes in book design including the Goldene Letter prize in 1985 (this volume) and 1999, and the 2005 Gutenberg Award.
