Satyrn sind mythologische Mischwesen aus Mensch und Ziegenbock, gehörnt und bocksfüßig, die sich durch Liderlichkeit und Lasterhaftigkeit auszeichnen. Unter dem Bild der Titel und 2 Spalten mit jeweils 4 Zeilen Text in französischer Sprache. - Aus der Serie: La vie des satyres. - Claude Gillot 1673 - 1722, Bühnenbildner, Maler und Kupferstecher, war bekannt für seine satirischen Bilder zur Sittenlosigkeit der Zeit. Thieme-Becker XIV, 44; Jean Audran 1667 - 1756, Stecher und Verleger. - Vermutlich ein späterer Abzug. Das Papier altersbedingt gegilbt, an den Rändern Gebrauchtspuren, ein Einriss im unteren Blattrand alt hinterklebt, ebenfalls am unteren Blattrand Spuren eines alten Klebestreifens. Album di mm 200 x 297. Serie completa di frontespizio inciso e cinque tavole raffiguranti elementi metallici decorativi per pistole e fucili, nell'edizione pubblicata presso G. Montbard a la Ville d'Anverse, sono note altre edizioni con indirizzi di Audran e di F. Chereau. Brossura in cartoncino marmorizzato azzurro. In basso a destra nel frontespizio entro l'inciso si legge: In. par Gillot Peintre de l'Accademie Royalle de Peinture ed è proprio tra il 1715 e il 1720 che Gillot fu nominato accademico reale.
