A very good copy in original gilt lettered buckram. small 4to. Arthur L. Humphreys. 1922. ~ This copy belonged to the owner of the house Jean Ingelow Alexander (1877- 1972), with her signature dated 28 th October 1933 on the end-paper. In the prefatory note she writes: "My father had always hoped to put together the notes which he head collected on his old house. his intention has now been carried out by our friend and neighbour, Miss Gladstone.".

Bound in tan full crushed morocco, with gilt titles to the spine and front board, and gilt decorative borders. All edges gilt, endpapers marbled. There are a few marks and stains to he front joint and the spine, and the corners are a little bumped and rubbed. The binding is firm. The leaves have one or two spots and marks, but are generally clean; small ink initials to front blank. A lovely amateur bound first edition of Gladstone's historical recollections of Notting Hill.

A first edition of this varied illustrated history of Aubrey House, Kensington. Publisher's cloth with gilt titles; spine ends and extremities a little bruised, a few marks to boards but generally appearing smart. Pencil ownership inscription to ffep.
