(Pertelote 115) The title in gold adopted a process where the page was printed in colored ink, then dusted over with powdered gold, which adheres to the ink. A limited edition of 100 copies was bound in gold cloth and sold for 1 Guinea, but collectors did not hesitate over the high price, for such a tiny book. The GOLDEN COCKEREL PRESS was founded by Harold Midgely Taylor in 1920 with the object of publishing new works of literary significance by young authors and to print and publish fine editions of books of established worth. When Mr. Taylor retired in1924 it was purchased by Robert Gibbins, known as an illustrator and woodcutter (Tomkinson, p .93) "Golden Cockerel books are amongst the most popular and desirable private press items." Alfred Edgar Coppard (1878 - 1957) was an English author, noted for his poetry and short stories. During the early 1920 she was in Oxford and was part of a literary group, the New Elizabethans, who met in a pub to read Elizabethan drama. W. B. Yeas sometimes attended the meetings. This is Copra's second published book and one of the earliest works published by the Golden Cockerel Press, which has set up as a cooperative in Waltham Saint Lawrence in 1920.

Lodowick Carlell (1602-1675), was a seventeenth-century English playwright, was active mainly during the Caroline era and the Commonwealth period. John Marston was a poet, satirist and playwright whose short career spanned the late Elizabethan and early Jacobean periods and was famous for the feuds with Ben Johnson. Henry Havelock Ellis (1859 - 1939) was an English physician, eugenicist, prolific writer, progressive intellectual and social reformer who studied human sexuality. Ellis was among the pioneering investigators of psychedelic drugs and the author of one of the first written reports to the public about an experience with mescaline, which he conducted on himself in 1896. He supported eugenics and served as one of 16 vice-presidents of the Eugenics Society from 1909 to 1912. Over sixty pieces, from Shakespeare to Churchill, including Wellington and Thackeray on Waterloo, Instructions to Captain Cook, Nelson's Prayer before Trafalgar, etc. The illustrations by 'Flying Officer' John O'Connor were all made in camp on active service and sent to the publishers by field post. The title of the book comes from the famous St. Crispin's Day speech (William Shakespeare, Henry the Fifth). The GOLDEN COCKEREL PRESS was founded by Harold Midgely Taylor in 1920 with the object of publishing new works of literary significance by young authors and to print and publish fine editions of books of established worth. Hester Margaret Sainsbury (1890-1967) was a British artist, dancer, poet and illustrator. This is a charming little volume by the Golden Cockerel Press, printed to mark the Silver Jubilee of King George V in May 1935 and bears a superb wood-engraved frontispiece, a head-piece illustrating transport and progress (steam train crossing a viaduct, a biplane, windmills) and fifteen further decorative wood-engraved vignettes by Eric Ravilious (1903 - 1942) the famed engraver, water-colorist and muralist who depicted war scenes while he was assigned to the Admiralty during W.W.
