Advertising display (ca. 16x25cm.) comprised of stiff die-cut card stock to which are fitted, like the pieces of a puzzle, seven fanned out playing card samples. Dark soil spot affecting two cards, light wear from handling, else a Very Good, bright and sound example. Small but striking advertising display presumably issued for the English-speaking market by the French manufacturer and distributor of playing cards B.P. Grimaud. The playing card examples feature splendid art deco-style designs depicting horse racing, stag hunting, mysterious masked women, and ships at sea.

Box. Twelvemo. Illustrated slide out box containing 54 cards. VG. Complete and collated. Light toning to box, otherwise clean and unmarked.

Schoppen Koning en Vrouw: Charles VI (1368-1422) en zijn mâitresse Odette. (Zijn wettige echtgenote was Isabella van Beieren. Charles begon in 1392 eerste tekenen van krankzinningheid te vertonen en ging de geschiedenis in als Charles le Fou. Harten Koning en Vrouw: Louis XIV (1638-1715) en zijn mâitresse Duchesse De la Valliére die pas de titel van hertogin kreeg, als een soort pensioen, toen zij als mâitresse werd vervangen. Louis' wettige echtgenote was Maria Theresa van Spanje. Klaveren Koning en Vrouw: François I (1494-1547) en zijn mâitresse Duchesse D'Etempes. Ook zij kreeg haar titel nadat zij als mâitresse was vervangen. François was getrouwd met Claude de Valois Ruiten Koning en Vrouw: Henri IV (1553-1610) en zijn mâitresse Gabrielle D'Estreé. Ze hielden beiden erg van paardrijden en jagen op het platteland rond Parijs. Wettige echtgenote van Henri was Margaretha de Valois. Henri verwekte drie kinderen bij Margaretha. De Boeren in dit spel zijn gekleed in de historische mode van de dienende klasse. Prijs: Euro1.950,- (incl. lijst, BTW margeregeling).
