From the library of Prof. Wolfgang Haase, long-time editor of ANRW and the International Journal of the Classical Tradition (IJCT). - Rubbed and bumped, author's name handwritten on cover, otherwise clean. - From the text: în anul 1968, în cadrul programului de cercetãri complexe din…zona viitorului lac de acumulare al hidrocentralei Portile de Fier ale Dunãrii, a fost cercetatã si identificatã prin sãpãturi arheologice o fortificatie datînd din epoca romanã tîrzie la Gornea (com. Sichevita; jud. Caras-Severin). Fig. 1. Fortificatia a fost construitã în epoca tetrarhiei, dupã retragerea romanilor din provinciile dacice (vezi pagina 114). Fortificatia este un castellum de tip quadriburgium, de formã patratã, care mãsoarã 41,50x41,50 m. La cele patru colturi are turnuri patrate, iesite în afara liniei zidului de incintã. Dimensiunile turnurilor în partea exterioarã sînt 9X9 m. Fortificatia se afla asezatã pe un promontoriu situat la 67 km vest de sat, pe malul Dunãrii numit Cãunita de Jos; locul se numeste Cetate. Cercetarea acestui punct a continuat si în anii 1968 si 1970. A fost stabilit planul fortificatiei, au fost golite interioarele turnurilor din colturi si bastioanele portii care se afla pe latura de sud. în interiorul fortificatiei a fost cercetatã o portiune de pe lingã latura de est, singura zonã nederanjatã de lucrãrile militare din epocile care au urmat, Fig. 2. - Aus der Zusammenfassung: EIN IN GORNEA GEFUNDENER RÖMISCHER ZIEGEL MIT TEXT IN KURSIVSCHRIFT AUS DEM 4. JH. Die Verfasser veröffentlichen einen in Gornea (Gem. Sichevita, Kr. Caras-Severin) in einer spätrömischen Festung gefundenen Ziegel mit lateinischem Text in Kursivschrift. Die Festung war zur Zeit der Tetrarchie (294300) erbaut worden. Der Ziegel, welcher in der Wand des Eingangs zum südwestlichen Eckturm eingemauert war, datiert genau den Zeitpunkt, in dem der Text geschrieben wurde. Es ist ein sehr bedeutsames epigraphisches Dokument den Fachwissenschaftlern vorzulegen, wenn auch vorläufig noch Unsicherheit sowohl hinsichtlich der Lesung und somit Übersetzung einige Wörter, als auch der historischen Auslegung besteht. ro Gewicht in Gramm: 550.

Bemerkungen…zur Erdphase der Römerlager. Der Verfasser behandelt aufgrund der neuesten Ausgrabungsergebnisse die erste Phase des römischen Verteidigungssystems im innerkarpatischen Dazien. Es wird festgestellt, dass von den 52 entweder an der Grenze oder im Inneren errichteten Festungen 31 eine Erdphase haben. Der Stand der Forschung gestattet nicht, die Situation in der übrigen Festungen genau festzustellen. Es werden nicht nur umfangreiche Angaben über die Ausmasse, das System und die Bauweise der Befestigungsanlagen (Graben, Wall und Palissade) der Erdlager vorgelegt, sondern es wird auch, mithilfe der Militärdiplome, der archäologischen und numismatischen Bodenfunde und der stratigraphischen Beobachtungen eine Datierung ihrer Erbauung versucht. Hierauf wird aufgrund der Zeitbestimmung des Baus die Dauer des aus Erdlagern bestehenden Verteidigungssystems bestimmt. ro Gewicht in Gramm: 550 Sonderdruck, Klebebindung in Papiereinband.
