In questa polemica intervenne direttamente anche Galilei successivamente con il Saggiatore. In questo volume si propone la versione latina originale e tradotta della Disputatio di Grassi, e l'edizione critica commentata del Discorso di Guiducci, alla cui stesura i curatori sostengono che Galileo stesso contribuì in parte determinante.
