Il capolavoro di Iohannes Saresberiensis (Salisbury 1120 - Chartres 1180), filosofo aristotelico inglese, allievo di Abelardo a Parigi, nel 1161 segretario del grande Thomas Becket, di cui scrisse una biografia, poi vescovo di Chartres. Sostenne che poche sono le affermazioni dimostrate razionalmente mentre la maggior parte delle nostre conoscenze sono semplicemente probabili; amò i classici e avversò i cornificiani detrattori delle arti del trivio (retorica, grammatica e dialettica). ASPELIN (Simrishamn 1898-1977) trasse da Marx la visione della Storia, fu docente di Filosofia Teoretica a Lund e sviluppò un interesse nella storia delle idee, in specie di quelle del Medioevo.
