Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Good. Immediate dispatch from Somerset. Nice older book in good condition. Some tanning wear and marking due to age. Dust cover worn and marked. Actual book is great. Year 1970. Hardcover. English. See images for condition. About the book >.>.> Darwin and Wallace based their theories of evolution and speci-ation on the variation and distribution of island species and islands have supplied most of the information in the later speciation studies of Stresemann, Rensch, Mayr, Lack, and Amadon. The great advantage of the study of islands is that here we find the consequences of geographic speciation demonstrated almost with the diagrammatic simplicity of a textbook. It is much more difficult to study this process on continents where completed speciation usually leads to extensive range overlaps, particularly in the temperate zone. That such an analysis is possible was shown by Keast for the birds of Australia and by Mrs. Hall for the African francolins. The present atlas extends these pioneering studies to all 900 species of African Passerine birds. It has been compiled by Mrs. Hall with such assistance and advice from R. E. Moreau as ill-health has allowed. The first step in any zoo.
