Photograph. 6 ½" x 8 ½" Type 1 sepia toned photo. Original photo of a smiling Jimmie Foxx holding a bat, with teammate (possibly Hall of Famer Eddie Collins) standing in background, and blue caption paper affixed to verso of photo. Near fine photo, with a light creasing to bottom edge, and light wear to corners. Overall, an exce…llent photo of an all-time baseball great. Jimmie Foxx, nicknamed "The Beast," was one of the greatest hitters in baseball history. He hit 30 or more home runs for 12 consecutive seasons and was the second player to join the 500 home run club after Babe Ruth. He also earned AL MVP honors three times (1932, 1933, 1938). In 1929 - the year that this photo was taken - Foxx led the Philadelphia Athletics to the first of back-to-back World Series titles (1929, 1930). Sadly, Foxx didn't quite attain the heights that he might have in his career, as he suffered from injuries and alcoholism. Nevertheless, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1951, and in 1999, The Sporting News ranked him as the 15th greatest player of all time.

Rare Reach Official American League Baseball signed by a legendary group of baseball legends and Hall of Famers. Signed by Babe Ruth on the sweetspot, setting the tone for one of the most remarkable gatherings of baseball legends captured on a single ball. Surrounding the "Sultan of Swat" are the signatures of Lou Gehrig, Jimmie… Foxx, and Al Simmons â" for a total of four of the five Hall of Famers famously struck out in succession by Carl Hubbell during the 1934 All-Star Game. Additionally signed by Connie Mack, Lefty Grove, and George Earnshaw. Crowning the collection is the autograph of Hank Aaron, the man who ultimately eclipsed Ruthâs career home run record, bridging two eras of baseball greatness. In fine condition. Housed in a plastic case. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Beckett Authentication Services. Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Hank Aaron, Jimmie Foxx, Al Simmons, Connie Mack, Lefty Grove, and George Earnshaw collectively embody the pantheon of Major League Baseball legends whose careers span the sportâs formative decades and its evolution into a national institution. Each figure holds a distinct place in the gameâs legacy: Ruth and Gehrig as the iconic heart of the New York Yankeesâ dominance in the 1920s and 1930s; Aaron as the embodiment of consistent excellence and the breaking of Babe Ruthâs home run record; Foxx and Simmons as prolific sluggers of the Philadelphia Athleticsâ golden years; Mack as the longest-serving and most storied manager in baseball history; and Grove and Earnshaw as dominant pitchers who shaped the Athleticsâ championship success. Together, these figures represent a cross-generational legacy that defines baseballâs golden age and its enduring mythos.

Rare signatures of the 1931 Philadelphia Athletics. Boldly signed in pencil by eleven players of the Philadelphia Athletics, including Connie Mack, Lefty Grove, Mickey Cochrane, Jimmie Foxx, Johnnie Heving, Joe Boley, Rube Walberg, Joe Palmisano, George Earnshaw, Jimmie Dykes, and Al Simmons. One page, dated 10-7-31, on a sheet…of stationery with "En Route Pennsylvania Railroad" printed at the head. Ownership inscription of to the top right corner, "Phila. A's Special to St. Louis 10-7-31." In 1931, the Philadelphia Athletics finished first in the American league with over 100 wins and secured the team's third consecutive pennant. They unfortunately lost the World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals. This sheet was likely signed en route to the World Series in St. Louis which took place between 1-10 October, 1931. In near fine condition with mail folds and light bumping. The piece measures 5 inches by 7.25 inches. Rare and desirable. The 1931 Philadelphia Athletics, managed by Connie Mack, were a dominant force in American League baseball, finishing the season with 107 wins and a roster that included stars such as Lefty Grove and Jimmie Foxx. Despite their regular-season success and status as defending champions, the Athletics were defeated in a tightly contested seven-game World Series by the St. Louis Cardinals. The series showcased the strategic acumen of opposing manager Gabby Street and the emergence of Pepper Martin as a postseason star. The loss marked the end of the Athleticsâ brief dynasty and signaled a shift in baseballâs balance of power during the early 1930s.

Typed letter signed by baseball hall of famer Jimmie Foxx to Bill Hewish, declining a position on the Olney High School Program Committee in Philadelphia, "Received your letter of March 27th regarding the Program Committee of the Olney High School. I'm afraid I won't be able to do what you ask, as being Captain of the team gives… me very little time to myself during the day. I have to be at the park quite early in the morning, and then back again for the game. However, if I can possibly make it I will let you know, but I'm afraid it's impossible. Give my best regards and sincere wishes to all the students.JimmieÂFoxx." Double matted and framed with a photograph of Foxx. The entire piece measures 19.5 inches by 11.5 inches. Jimmie Foxx was an Major League Hall of Fame baseball player, and is considered one of the greatest right-handed power hitters to ever play the game. He played for the Philadelphia Athletics, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, and Philadelphia Phillies, and was the second, and youngest, Major League player to reach 500 career home runs.
