"A Ravenna Gerry Johansson è arrivato per la prima volta nel 2013. Come d'abitudine, ha parcheggiato l'automobile e ha iniziato a camminare, da solo, nelle direzioni che gli apparivano più invitanti. Poi è tornato più volte, continuando a camminare e fotografare [.] Impressionato dal profondo addentrarsi dell'area portuale nel centro urbano, che crea un curioso miscuglio tra città e industria, Johansson ha continuato la sua camminata lungo il canale Candiano, da Ravenna sino a Porto Corsini, attraversando alcuni luoghi simbolici della città che conservano affascinanti monumenti della sua storia più recente. Dal magazzino ex SIR al vecchio tiro a segno, dal mangimificio Martini con la parete di Ericailcane all'antico cimitero monumentale, dalle torri di raffredamento Hamon, uniche superstiti della Società Anonima Raffinazione Olii Minerali, alla moderna centrale termoelettrica Teodora sulla via Baiona, lungo la quale si scopre una geografia naturale e umana in cui una modernità indutriale talvolta fantascientifica convive con un paesaggio antichissimo di macchie palustri, valli e capanni da pesca, che si estende sino al vicino delta del Po.
