L'esemplare è completo, le pagine sono brunite specialmente ossidate nella porzione stampata. Prima rarissima edizione. Importante studio medico-chimico del celebre medico tedesco Johann Juncker. L'autore fu a lungo professore di medicina ad Halle (fu anche rettore dell'Università) e medico privato di molte eminenti personalità dell'epoca. Junker fu anche uno dei massimi difensori della teoria del flogisto di Georg Ernst Stahl. Tale teoria elaborata nel XVII secolo riguarda la combustione dei materiali e ha l'intento di spiegare i processi di ossidazione e combustione. La teoria del flogisto venne successivamente smentita e abbandonata dopo che fu resa pubblica la legge della conservazione della massa di Antoine Lavoisier. La teoria in sostanza sostiene che i materiali combustibili e metalli arroventati si trasformavano in calci (oggi diremmo semplicemente che si ossidano) producendo durante il processo di combustione o di calcinazione, il flogisto, un misterioso principio di infiammabilità o principio solforoso. Junker fu anche un grande organizzatore e fondò uno degli ospedali più apprezzati della sua epoca realizzando una struttura di sanità pubblica ad Halle che distribuiva farmaci gratuitamente ai poveri. L'opera qui presentata, che ebbe varie riedizioni nel corso di tutto il XVIII secolo, è particolarmente apprezzata per la sua completezza nella trattazione di diverse patologie e per la chiarezza dei sentimi legati agli stessi. L'opera, divisa in capitoli tratta di diversi tipi di febbri ma anche di malattie veneree, malattie infettive e presenta capitoli intramente dedicati alla depressione (o melanconia), varie manie, idrofobia, nottambulismo e dei bambini.

These include Franz Joseph von Oberkamp's treatise on pulmonary embolism, *Idiopathia Vomicae Pulmonis Lapsum Excipientis*, illustrated with a fine engraved folding plate depicting three views of the human skull; and Johannes Dieterich's treatise on hemorrhoids, *De Haemorrhoidibus Cristatis*.
