Despite measures taken by public health authorities to control ob…esity, number of people affected with obesity and its related disorders are increasing at alarming rate. It is imperative therefore to understand the molecular pathophysiology of obesity prior to undertaking any containment measures. This book summarizes our research work for developing a system with the capability to mine an extensive corpus of scientific articles and produce a network of genes implicated in a given disease. The system has been developed taking Obesity as a test case. The constructed network holds a central place in understanding the pathophysiology of Obesity and will serve as an important tool for the identification of drug targets. Here, we present a new machine learning system to m…ine biological data sets (text data/scientific literature) to understand relations between two genes (two terms) in a scientific text. The system mimics human intelligence and accurately determine the relations between two genes/proteins. We manually curated literature data sets using deep curation to generate training set. Furthermore, our prediction results were validated with the help of experts to generate confidence to use our system in different real time situations. Next the system was made automated so that people across the world can determine relations between two or more molecules in a text using support vector machines. This semi-automated system is frequently applied by our team to write reviews on a given topic. For example, our team was able to screen and mine over 36000 papers to write a review on molecular docking tools. In 2016, our team were able to reconstruct obesity molecular network using this system(Jaisri et al 2016, Plos One). 100 pp. Englisch.

These constitute a significant proportion of most eukaryotic genomes. We demonstrate the presence of signals at the sites where mobile g…enetic elements preferentially insert in several genomes. These signals have been mapped into a general machine learning protocol. A web enabled computational protocol for the analysis of mobile genetic elements and their insertion sites, and a resource base containing several genomes,termed ELAN has been developed. This suite of tools for analysis and a relational database which contains over several hundred gigabytes of information are in the public domain. El sistema imita la inteligencia humana y determina con precisión las relaciones entre dos genes/proteínas. Los conjuntos de datos bibliográficos se curaron manualmente mediante deep curation para generar el conjunto de entrenamiento. Además, nuestros resultados de predicción se validaron con la ayuda de expertos para generar la confianza necesaria para utilizar nuestro sistema en diferentes situaciones en tiempo real. A continuación, el sistema se automatizó para que personas de todo el mundo puedan determinar las relaciones entre dos o más moléculas en un texto utilizando máquinas de vectores soporte. Nuestro equipo aplica con frecuencia este sistema semiautomatizado para escribir reseñas sobre un tema determinado. Por ejemplo, nuestro equipo fue capaz de examinar y extraer más de 36 000 artículos para escribir una reseña sobre herramientas de acoplamiento molecular.
