Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. FIRST EDITION hardcover, sewn-bound in black cloth, with silver stamping on front cover and spine, is in VG condition, having light wear to top and bottom spine, corners slightly bumped and worn; some rubbing/scuffing to covers (especially on back cover--when we took a ph…oto of the back we showered it with too much light, and the picture makes the rubbing/scuffing there look worse than it really is); former owner has put a sticker name and address tag on reverse of first free endpaper, and also used a circular embossing stamp to make his once-ownership known on the top of the dedication page. BOOK IS INSCRIBED BY KIESLING in blue fountain-ink on half-title page: "To W. K. Craig: A Studio Club author salutes his President. Sincerely, Barrett Kiesling" and is dated "Sept. 27, 1937"; former bookseller has written in pencil "Signed" and "O.P." near the inscription. Book is illustrated with a series of b&w photograph plates showing various people, scenes, and occupations connected to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studios, among them a photo of cinematographer Karl Freund, and another of make-up wizard Jack Dawn making-up actor Reginald Denny. A really nicely-written and put-together book by Kiesling, who was director of publicity at MGM from 1928 to 1960, research indicates. Although this book was clearly published to celebrate the work of MGM, it is filled with much wisdom and information, and not a frothy "puff piece." A book that belongs in the library of every lover of Hollywood's "Golden Age." Cinema. Film. United States. 20th century. Studios. DB[2]. Inscribed by Author(s).
