Aggiungi al carrelloHardback. Condizione: Mint Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fine. Yasuo Kuniyoshi (illustratore). First Edition. This copy is in mint, unmarked condition bound in red cloth covered boards with bright gilt titling to the spine. This copy is bright, tight, white and square. The unclipped dustwrapper is lightly sunned to the spine so best described as fine condition International postal rates are calculated on a book weighing 1 Kilo, in cases where the book weighs more than 1 Kilo increased postal rates will be quoted, where the book weighs less then postage will be reduced accordingly. Yasuo Kuniyoshi, 1889-1953, is one of those rare artists who was born in the Orient, in Okayama, but educated in the Western art aesthetic. The reasons for his move to the USA, alone, in 1906 remain unclear but, thereafter, he only he only returned to Japan in 1931 to see his mother and seriously ill father. In this book, the first monograph on the artist, Tom Wolf has written an informative essay, illustrated with 24 black and white illustrations and photographs. There follow 34 full page colour plates, presented chronologically from "Adam and Eve" (1922) to "Bicycle Juggler" (1951), and a Select Bibliography. The colour reproduction is very good and relevant textural comment and the appropriate plate are very well linked, thereby enhancing the overall reading experience. It is significant that a number of the works illustrated are from collections in Japan. Ref B 1.
