L'idea fondamentale della psicologia di Krueger si costituiva intorno al concetto di Qualità complessiva o Qualità del complesso (Komplexqualität). Secondo Volkelt il concetto di totalità può venir riconosciuto in primo luogo come il principio di configurazione (Gestaltungsprinzip) più alto e più intimo di tutta la vita in generale e di tutta la vita animica in particolare.
