Publisher's original pictorial brown cloth bindings with lettering and design to spine in gilt. Wear and softening/bumping to spine ends and extremities. Both volumes have colour frontispieces with tissue guards; monochrome plates, line drawings, maps, tables and diagrams; also colour plates with flags. Both spines and page blocks remain firm and tight. A very slight age-fading to spines although lettering still easily and completely legible. There is a little age-toning and foxing, but not nearly as much as one might expect from books of this age. Internally clean.
