2 SS. Visitkartenformat. Leisching studierte Kunstgeschichte und Philosophie in Wien und Berlin, wurde 1884 zum Dr. phil. promoviert und war am Österreichischen Museum für Kunst und Industrie tätig. Als Direktor (1909-25) entwickelte er das Museum zu einer Bildungsstätte von internationalem Ansehen. L. weitete die Sammelgebiete…auf die Moderne aus und verschaffte dem Museum durch Ausstellungen des österr. Kunstgewerbes eine Mittlerrolle zwischen Industrie und Handwerk auf der einen und den Künstlern auf der anderen Seite. Wissenschaftlich beschäftigte er sich vor allem mit Portraitminiaturmalerei des 18. und 19.Jh. sowie der Geschichte der österr. Gold- und Silberschmiedekunst. Er war Experte für österr. Stilgeschichte, insbesondere der maria-theresianischen und josephinischen Zeit, und Dozent an der österr. Kunstgewerbeschule. Er wirkte am Aufbau des Wiener Volksbildungswesens mit. Seine Erinnerungen erschienen postum 1978.
