The binding is in great condition, still tight, with only very minor bumping, some sunning to the spine, and a strip of discoloration (1.8cm) to the heads of the front and back boards of vol. 1. Very minor foxing to pages, inscription by an early owner on the title page of each volume. Complete with 16 fold-out plates. A student of Ampere and a professor at the University of Florence, Leopoldo Nobili was one of the key pioneers of electrochemistry and thermodynamics, known in particular for the critical instruments he invented for investigating these fields, the most well-known among them being the astatic galvanometer.
