Lerebours of Paris sold optical intruments. However, he is more well known as one of the early publishers of photographic views. He would give daguerrotype equipment to artists and writers and they would in turn take photos in various foreign countries, i.e, France, Egypt, Spain, Palestine. In 1840, Lerebours published "Excursions Daguerriennes," within the next two years he issued a two-volume work. Fourth Ed. (Translation: A TREATISE ON PHOTOGRAPHY: Containing the Latest Discoveries and Improvements Appertaining to the Daguerrotype.).
