Softcover. Condizione: Very Good. Number 433 ('New Series'). July 1932. Large 8vo. Pictorial decorated wraps. 128 pp. Issues featuring twelve-page article, 'Alice's Recollections of Carrollian Days. As Told to Her Son, Caryl Hargreaves'. Being the childhood memories of Alice Hargreaves (nee Liddell) which give some gems of insight into her time with Charles Dodgson (Lewis Carroll) and the early formation of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. B/w plate / frontispiece (portrait depicting Alice in her eightieth year, from a drawing by Cecil G. Trew). Lots of other articles also of course, including 'Marine Biology of Bermuda', by Charlotte M. Yonge, but it is the Liddell article that takes centre-stage. Pages and covers clean and bright. A couple of very small notes / underlinings to the text, and a small inscription to front cover top corner. Just light wear to cover corners. Overall in lovely condition. VG+.

First edition. *The story of Alice Liddell and her family, based on memorabilia owned by Alice's grand-daughter.

Letter: 4 pp, 12mo. Bifolium. 36 lines. Text clear and complete. Very good, on lightly-aged paper. He addresses him 'as Provisional Secretary to the Abbotsford Subscription Committee', to inform him that he has instructed his bankers in Newcastle to transmit forty pounds from his account to bankers in the Strand, 'to be added to the Abbotsford Fund - being the Amount collected in small sums between 1.£ & 1.s. by Mrs. Liddell in the town of Alnwick & vicinity'. She will forward a book of subscribers' names to the Committee. 'Considerable interest was exhibited by the lower classes in my immediate neighbourhood upon the subject.' Postscript states that he is 'not without hopes of forwarding' Dundas 'a contribution before long from the proceeds of my little volume which perhaps you will do me the honor to purchase & to read'. The 'Ape' cartoon is 21 x 31.5 cm, slightly cropped at head (only affecting lettering in margin) and foot, but with none of Liddell's full-length image lacking. A 21 x 3 cm strip at the foot has been folded upwards (to the hem of Liddell's gown), otherwise good, on lightly aged paper.

Reads: 'Vinerian Scholarship | This is to certify that Mr Richard Harington Bachelor of Arts Student of Christ Church in the University of Oxford has resided there and kept forty two days. | Henry G Liddell, | Dean of Christ Church, Oxon | Christ Church | October 31st. 1859.'
