The first edition, first impression of this delightful work. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, six vignette and full page illustrations from Arthur Rackham to the titular tale, and with further full page and vignette illustrations from Jessie M. King and Kate Greenaway, and other celebrated illustrators. Collated, complete. A wonderful collection of ten children's short stories, including 'The Magic Garret', 'Ronald's Clock', and 'A Regular Bouncer'. With the 1920s inscription of Elsie F Roots to the verso of the front free endpaper. The work of Mabel Henrietta Spielmann, who authored several children's books, and wrote on the life and works of Charlotte Bronte. In the publisher's original decorative cloth binding, with gilt detailing. Front board exceptionally bright, with mark to rear board. Fading to back strip. Light shelf wear to back strip tail and bump to back strip head. Hinges strained, but firmly held. Inscription to verso of front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright, aside from spotting to title page. Very Good. book.

Crisp spine titles and vignettes of rose with leaves matching four corners of cover. Matte geometric patterned plum endpapers. Fine color frontispiece with tissue guard: "Littledom Castle by Hugh Thomson R. I." Pages very good; no writing. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Bright gilt text block at all sides. Full-page illustrations throughout. Some of the earliest and most detailed imagery of Arthur Rackham on display in the first tale, Littledom Castle, with indications of his developing talents. Bind fine, square; hinges intact. Features a preface by Mister M.H. Spielmann lauding his mate's writing talent and assemblage, and the artistic inspirations and imagination brought by the artists.
