Ce recueil de 43 pièces poétiques à réciter ou à chanter est illustré d'un portrait photographique de l'auteur par le studio Harcourt, agrafé au premier cahier. Avec une préface de Pierre Mac Orlan : « Brigitte Sabouraud [.] est un peu comme une image de la Seine, la Seine qui est un fleuve populaire d'une sympathique élégance. C'est aussi, selon les hasards poétiques de ses chansons et de ses poèmes, tantôt une Ophélie du groupe Guillaume Apollinaire, tantôt une rôdeuse de berges, mais de bonne famille, portant en soi la mélancolie nuancée du fleuve de Paris ». Comédienne et compositrice, Brigitte Sabouraud (1922-2002) fonde, avec Léon Noël, Marc Chevalier et André Schelesser, le cabaret l'Écluse quai des Grands-Augustins, et en prend la direction. Elle s'y produit elle-même sur scène, s'accompagnant à l'accordéon, et y interprète chansons de marins, textes de Francis Carco, ainsi que ses propres compositions ; plusieurs seront reprises par Barbara, qui comme Jacques Brel est révélée au public parisien sur les planches de l'Écluse. 2 bibliothèques françaises : BnF (Tolbiac) et Angers ; 2 bibliothèques étrangères : University of Illinois, University of Wisconsin. Il a été enrichi de deux planches en noir sur Chine signées par l'artiste à la mine de plomb et d'un beau dessin à pleine page à la mine de plomb, à l'encre et à l'aquarelle représentant le héros du roman, avec l'envoi : à Mme Dordet hommage respectueux André Collot. Je vous envoie avec plaisir quelques pages nouvelles si cela peut contribuer à développer chez vos camarades le goût de la pensée française. En ce moment, tout est assez décourageant, tout au moins… pour un écrivain de mon âge. Le passé na plus guère de valeur : il perd toute signification quand on tente de lévoquer. Il lui envoie quelque chose avant la fin du mois.

Mac Orlan is described by a connoisseur erotic bibliophile (from whom this book was acquired, by way of auction) as an '.inveterate erotomaniac . [and] . one of the great writer's names of the confused history of erotic literature' (p-18 Emmanuel Pierrat ? Le Livre des livres e?rotiques, 2008). Lise Durand, of the title, is the daughter of a renowned magnate based in Louisiana, he ships her off to St. George's School Brighton, where she stings under the birch of the headmistress Miss Anna Chippeway. Then she is sex-trafficked to San Francisco and on to Boston where she marries the writer Nathaniel Plum who spanks her into love and affection. 219009.
