First edition. 207pp., a frontispiece by the war artist Joseph Gray, 3 other black and white illustrations, and a detachable form for obtaining copies of the frontispiece at the end of the book. The 7th Battalion, Queen's Own Cameron highlanders was raised at Inverness in September 1914 and moved to Aldershot for training in November, joining the 44th Brigade, 15th (Scottish) Division in January 1915. They moved to billets at Liphook, then to Cirencester, Chisledon, and Tidworth. They proceeded to France in July 1915 and landed at Boulogne. The Battalion saw action at the Battle of Loos in 1915, Battles of the Somme in 1916, the Arras Offensive and the Third Battle of Ypres in 1917, and the Somme in early 1918. The Battalion was disbanded in France on the 14th of august, 1918. This history of the Battalion also contains lists of Honours awarded, officers who served with the Battalion, and extracts from War Diary. The book is bound in the original blue cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine and gold stamped emblem on the front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with shelf wear and some light soiling with a few faint stains on the boards. The contents are tight and clean with a light impression from an erased name on the top edge of the front free endpaper.
