Die französische Originalausgabe erschien 1880-1885 mit dem Druckort "Lisbonne" in Bruxelles. Maupassant hat sich stets geweigert das Werk anzuerkennen. Erst 1960 wurde die Autorschaft anlässlich einer französischen Neuausgabe der Marquise de Mannoury Ectot, einer Freundin von Paul Verlaine, zugeschrieben, die mehrere erotische Romane veröffentlicht hat. Eine deutsche Ausgabe erschien erstmals 1905 in Wien. Die vorliegende Ausgabe könnte auch dort erschienen sein, wenn der hübsche Einband im Stil der Wiener Werkstätten vom Verleger in Auftrag gegeben wurde. Der Einband hätte einen Hinweis auf den Buchbinder verdient. - Papier wie immer gebräunt. Bis auf einen sehr schwachen Wasserrand am äussersten oberen Rand der letzten 20 Seiten schönes Exemplar. Sprache: deutsch.
