Condizione: Fair. 1933. Reprinted. 254 pages. No dust jacket. Blue embossed cloth with black lettering to spine. Pages are lightly tanned with moderate foxing to endpapers and text block edges. Pencil inscription to front free endpaper and half title page, with water drops and a few small nicks along text block edge. Minor dog-eared corners. Mild cracking to gutters with exposed netting. Binding remains firm. Occasional thumb-marking present throughout. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with notable bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Light tanning to spine and edges, with visible crushing to spine ends. Book has a pronounced forward lean.

Colour frontispiece and b + w illustrations. Original owner's name and date 1931 in pencil to the inner board, a few fingerprints, otherwise internally clean. Adventure stories include Trapped! A Scouting Story' by Walter Rhodes and stories by Mark Harborough, Harold Avery and Captain G B McKean V.C. and a poem by William Pitt.

In overall good used condition in a fair dj with some signs of handling and storage - dj is complete but rubbed, chipped and nicked to edges with a couple of repairs; illustrated blue cloth boards are rubbed to edges and faded where the dj is chipped. Binding overall tight and appears little read - minor crack to gutter at half-title, no annotations - 4 word gift inscription to half-title and remains of a postage (?) stamp to reverse of frontispiece; toning and slight spotting to page-ends and endpapers but text, illustrations and maps at endpapers bright and clear throughout. Not an old library book. Photograph available.

No date, circa 1928. From the collection of illustrated juvenile fiction (1890- 1930) of Brian Mills (ÕThe DreamerÕ) (1939- 2011). He left no signs of of his ownership but they are distinguished by their excellent bright condition in a genre that often shows up rather wornÉhe was known to constantly upgrade his collection. Very good indeed.
