Dutch Martien Beversluis presenteert in zijn vroege dichtbundel De Bellenblazer uit 1923 een romantische en symbolistische visie op het kunstenaarschap, waarbij de kwetsbare zeepbel fungeert als metafoor voor de vergankelijke schoonheid van de menselijke verbeelding. In deze periode profileerde hij zich nog als een religieus-socialistische idealist die met een dromerige en lyrische stijl de spanning tussen de harde alledaagse realiteit en de transcendente wereld van de geest trachtte te overbruggen. De bundel markeert een onschuldige fase in het leven van een auteur wiens latere carrière volledig werd overschaduwd door zijn radicalisering en collaboratie tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog, waardoor dit werk tegenwoordig vaak wordt gelezen als een melancholisch contrast met zijn latere politieke keuzes als NSB-burgemeester.

Original manuscript letters of Martinus (Martien) Beversluis (Barendrecht 1894 - Middelburg 1966). Also known as Silvius Berckhout, Reinier Bloemert, Thea de Born, M.B. Versluis, Huib Wouters and Rob Altena.The letter is dedicated to "beste makker". On the envelop with VARA (Vereeniging van Arbeiders Radio Amateurs) logo, is the name: Den Heer G.Gregoor, Hortensiastraat 209 Den Haag. 2 pages written on one side, total size: 25,5 x 21 cm. Dated: Blaricum, 8 sept 1930. In the letter criticism on the review of the poems: "Ge moet niet teleurgesteld zijn, als ik u zeg dat ge nog zeer onvoldoende en onoorspronkelijk u uitdrukt".[NL] Martien Beversluis werkte in de periode 1928 - 1934 voor de VARA en publiceerde het sterk antimilitaristische Aanklacht (1930). Hij was aangesteld door omroepsecretaris van de VARA Ger Zwertbroek. In de oorlogsjaren was Beversluis aangesloten bij de Nationaal Socialistische Beweging (NSB) van Anton Mussert en in 1942 bij de Nederlandsche SS. Na de oorlog werd hij geinterneerd. In 1947 werd hij op medische en psychiatrische gronden vrijgelaten en ontslagen van rechtsvervolging. Bij de Perzuivering werd hem het uitoefenen van journalistieke werkzaamheden voor een periode van twintig jaar verboden.
