Hardcover. Condizione: Good. Octavo, original marbled calf gilt extra, all edges gilt, joints cracked and extremities worn, ex-library with bookplate only, no other marks; an attractive copy of a rare book. The lengthy French introduction actually is a commentary specifically dealing with Milton, and dealing in part with William Lauder's allegations of plagiarism by Milton. Indeed, Lauder's first example of Milton's plagiarisim is from the Sarcotis. This is only the second copy of this very rare book that we have handled in over 40 years. No edition is mentioned by Parker; no edition in either Boswell or in Coleridge.
