Hardcover. Condizione: New. Original bdg. HC. 4to. (31 x 22 cm). In English. 232 p., color ills. With a DVD. Hierapolis di Frigia XIII: Virtual Hierapolis. Virtual Archaeology and Restoration Project, (2007-2015) (with DVD). This new volume in the series dedicated to Hierapolis presents the results of an ambitious project concerning the 3D reconstructions of its main monuments and the virtual restoration of the artefacts and pictorial and mosaic decorations, present above all in the houses of the city's aristocracy. Some of these items have already been described in previous publications, but in this volume, together with hitherto unseen images, they are part of the Virtual Tour of the city, which can also be experienced via on-line and off-line platforms, choosing from three different visitor itineraries. As well as the specific need to study the ancient architecture by means of 3D virtual reconstructions, the creation of the Virtual Tour of Hierapolis provides an answer to the questions posed by the rising number of tourists, which now exceeds two million a year, placing the city, together with Ephesus, among the most popular archaeological sites in Turkey. These reconstructions proved to be highly effective communication tools, enabling the viewing public to understand the appearance of the ancient buildings. Some of these virtual reconstructions were published in 2009 in the leaflet on Virtual Hierapolis, distributed to scholars and visitors. M. Limoncelli was a constant presence in the MAIER in those years, but it was only during his Research Doctorate at the Sacro Cuore Catholic University in Milan, in the years 2013-2016, that his Project was systematically fulfilled. Condizione: NEW. Roma: L'Erma di Bretschneider, 2024 9788891333308 Studia archaeologica 263 809 386 p. : 188 ill. col. b/n, indice, bibliografia ; 24 cm. This volume is the third in a series of books dedicated to Virtual Restoration and specifically the first dedicated to architecture, or rather to the reconstructive study of ancient monuments. Within the discipline, virtual restoration of ancient buildings is certainly the most complex field of application, as it encompasses all sectors of virtual restoration. This includes mosaics, frescoes, painted plaster, and stucco, sculptures and plastic works, wooden works for roofing, and ceramics (roof tiles, bricks, and tiles, etc.). Each area has its own autonomous intervention methodologies, which are combined to create the complete three-dimensional reconstruction of the building. This book illustrates all aspects and issues related to virtual reconstructions of ancient buildings through 28 specific case studies. The aim is to propose a correct use of digital visualization of an ancient monument, showcasing the sources used for 3D reconstruction. It explicates the logical process followed in reconstructing various hypotheses, and in the most controversial case studies, it proposes different reconstruction hypotheses or one for each chronological phase of the ancient object under study for reconstruction. Condizione: NEW. Firenze: All'Insegna del Giglio, 2016 9788878146907 805 158 p. : CD, indice, bibliografia ; 29 cm.
