A sunning and browning halos the front cover. Head corner is lightly damaged possibly by some sticky tape being removed and taking with it some cover (check imag…e). Spine is showing some heavier discolouration along side wear and tear possibly due to sunning. Head and tail of spine well rubbed. Pages are slightly discoloured. The odd page bears some foxing and other discolouration but nothing dramatic. Some pages dog eared. Otherwise this journal is in fair condition. Cloth slightly sunned and rubbed; an excellent copy with the good dustwrapper (price-clipped and slightly worn and marked, with minor loss at the head and foot of the spine). The book is based on the author's fieldwork carried out on Cape York Peninsula in 1927-31 and 1934. Provenance: Donald Finlay Fergusson Thomson (1901-1970), anthropologist and zoologist, with his signature ('Donald F. Thomson') at the head of the front free endpaper (see his entry in the 'Australian Dictionary of Biography' for details of his important involvement with the Aboriginal peoples of northern Australia).
