Vintage program for the 1958 film. A filmed version of the 1670 stage play by Molière. A bourgeois man tries to move into aristocratic society by learning music, dance, fencing, and philosophy. 9.5 x 12.25 inches. Very Good plus, with foxing to the front wrapper, and some curling at the right corners.

Hard back binding in stunning fine blue morocco leather covers, gilt radial sun burst designs to the front and rear covers, parallel gilt fillet lines across the spine connecting the sun bursts front and rear, gilt title and author lettering to the spine, top edge gilt with French flag colour silk head bands, large returns of the leather to the paste downs with gilt fleur-de-lys to the eight corners each connected by twin parallel lines and dotted lines, marble paper end papers. 8vo. 8'' x 5¼''. Contains 16-(a), 396 printed pages of text with five tissue-guarded full-page monochrome illustrations. Such is the standard of workmanship we believe this to be privately commissioned or perhaps an exhibition or competition piece. Fine condition book in blue buckram covered drop spine box slip case with marble paper lining and gilt title to the spine. Certainly one of a kind and unlikely to be repeated. Member of the P.B.F.A. Vintage photograph of architect Frank Lloyd Wright, gossip columnist Elsa Maxwell, and producer Mike Todd at the premiere of Todd's 1946 Broadway play, held at the Booth Theatre in New York on January 9, 1946. Stamp of Michael Todd Production on the verso. Over the course of his short career in show business, Todd worked as a producer for theatre and film, most notably producing the 1956 Academy Award-winning film "Around the World in 80 Days." He is perhaps best remembered now as Elizabeth Taylor's third husband, the only one whom she did not divorce (Todd died in a plane accident a year after their marriage). 8 x 10 inches. Very Good plus, with light wear and creasing.
