El desarrollo de esta disciplina se fundamenta en avances tecnológicos… para la separación y el análisis de proteínas a gran escala, así como en la bioinformática y el análisis de imagen. Las proteínas, cuyo nombre deriva del griego "proteios" (que significa "primario" o "de primer rango"), son las moléculas biológicas fundamentales para la vida. En este sentido, el estudio exhaustivo de las proteínas es clave para comprender los intrincados procesos biológicos y las bases moleculares de las enfermedades. La proteómica se erige como una metodología de gran potencia para el análisis y el diagnóstico molecular, abriendo nuevas perspectivas en el conocimiento de la regulación e integración celular a múltiples niveles. Su utilidad práctica en biomedicina es muy extensa, permitiendo, por ejemplo, la identificación de biomarcadores para el diagnóstico temprano de enfermedades, el descubrimiento de dianas terapéuticas para el desarrollo de nuevos fármacos y la comprensión de los mecanismos moleculares subyacentes a diversas patologías. Este libro recopila diversos capítulos que explican los fundamentos y el modo de uso de las principales metodologías aplicadas en proteómica, al mismo tiempo que ilustran algunas de sus aplicaciones más sobresalientes en el ámbito de la investigación biomédica y el desarrollo de herramientas diagnósticas y terapéuticas. Proteomics is a scientific discipline that, through a global experimental approach, studies the complete set of proteins present in a biological system at a specific time and under defined conditions. The development of this discipline is based on technological advancements for the large-scale separation and analysis of proteins, as well as on bioinformatics and image analysis. Proteins, whose name derives from the Greek word "proteios" (meaning "primary" or "of the first rank"), are the fundamental biological molecules for life. In this sense, the comprehensive study of the proteins, is key to understanding the intricate biological processes and the molecular basis of diseases. Proteomics stands as a highly powerful methodology for molecular analysis and diagnosis, opening new perspectives in the understanding of cellular regulation and integration at multiple levels. Its practical utility in biomedicine is vast, allowing, for example, the identification of biomarkers for the early diagnosis of diseases, the discovery of therapeutic targets for the development of new drugs, and the understanding of the underlying molecular mechanisms of various pathologies. The first valorisation pathway presented for lignin is its partial depolymerisation by oxidation for the production of low molecular weight phenolic compounds, such as vanillin and syringaldehyde, and the second one is the lignin application as macromonomer for polyurethane synthesis. In this book, the authors present the integration of these two valorisation pathways as an exclusive vision of LSRE-LCM resulting from hands-on experience on reaction and separation processes: the integrated process for lignin valorisation. In this perspective, the lignin is oxidized to simultaneously produce syringaldehyde and vanillin, and the obtained by-products to produce a polyolfor lignin-based polyurethanes, completing the lignin value chain. On the perspective of pulp mill-related biorefineries, a valorisation route for eucalyptus bark is also presented, focusing on LSRE-LCM experience on extraction and separation of bioactive polyphenols, giving some insights about further integration of extracted bark on biorefining operations. Por un lado, se encuentran los arqueólog…os e historiadores, encargados de caracterizar las arquitecturas en tierra, que abordan aspectos tan diferentes como la logística de las obras o el abastecimiento de materiales. Las aproximaciones analíticas y arqueométricas, que aportan especialistas desde la física, la química, la ingeniería o la arquitectura, entre otras disciplinas, se constituyen en instrumentos fundamentales. No falta una última aproximación, absolutamente necesaria en el panorama actual de la vuelta a formas más sostenibles de construcción, a los principios de la arquitectura vernácula, sus valores patrimoniales y las experiencias que, desde la reconstrucción práctica de las técnicas, permiten hacer de la construcción en tierra cruda una solución plenamente vigente.
