This edition includes a preface for the twelfth edition, dated July, 1860, with a history of the publication up to that time and subsequent events concerning Pitcairn. Small 8vo, brown decorated cloth, gilt ship on front board, spine decorated in gilt, all gilt rather dull. Binding worn at ends and part of the right edge of the spine. Illustrated with plates. Frontispiece of John Adams, the last surviving mutineer, who died in 1829, and a folding facsimile plate of a document written by him. Includes a portrait of Captain William Bligh and an account of the famous Bounty mutiny.

Charming inscription to fep 'To Looloo from her Father 12th July 1848' together with details of how he sourced the book for her from Scotland when she became ill whilst teething in Calcutta. The poems are delightful - there is one for each letter of the alphabet - N is for nest - Authentically aged and utterly adorable.
