His novel Tashkent was based on his experiences during the famine of 1920-21 which forced him and his family to flee the Volga region to find refuge first in the city of Tashkent, before settling in Moscow. This copy is missing its dust jacket, but is otherwise in good condition. There is some wear and cracking to the outside of the spine, though it is not at all lose or in danger of separating. There is some tearing or scuffing to the back pastedown. Both the front and back flyleaves have large rectangular areas of discolouration. There is some foxing and age-related discolouration to the pages, but nothing that interferes with the text.
