One of the greatest foreign golfers, Locke won the Open Championship four times (1949, 1950, 1952, & 1957). Although unconventional in style, Locke was recognized as one of, if not the best, putter around. Same Snead went to South Africa for a series of matches: Locke won 12 of 16 contests against "Slammin' Sam". Snead urged him to come to America and in 1947 he did and won 7 tournaments.
