Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a detailed account of the life and work of Francis Paget, Bishop of Oxford from 1901 to his death in 1911, using letters, memoirs and diaries to construct a vivid portrait of the man and his times. Born in 1851 and educated at Shrewsbury and Christ Church, Oxford, he was a scholar of considerable brilliance and an early advocate of a high church position within the Church of England. This book explores both the intellectual and spiritual development of its subject, considering his contributions to Christian thought and his work in social and political spheres. As well as offering a detailed record of Paget's time as Bishop of Oxford, the author examines Paget's personal life, revealing how his deep Christian faith guided his actions and his approach to life. The result is a fascinating and absorbing insight into one of the most influential churchmen of his day.
