Written by the French-Algerian naturalist Paul Pallary (1869-1942) who was an important malacologist and shell-dealer in Northern Africa. Although Germain's work was very rich in new data, Pallary was able to contribute another sizable addition after visiting the region himself. Includes several new species of continental molluscs, chiefly land snails. The plates mainly depict species of Mastus, and Clausilia (s.l.), but also Helicidae, Unionidae and others. Dedication copy: with the signed dedication by Pallary to Louis Germain. Uncut. Slight fraying at edges; two tears in front wrapper's lower margin. A very good, unique copy of a rare work.

Original, uniform printed wrappers. = An excellent monograph and biography of a key figure in the French Napoleonic cam…paign in Egypt, the French zoologist Marie Jules César Lelorgne de Savigny (1777-1851). He was the leader of the French scientific expedition to Egypt, which was part of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte's military campaign. Savigny wrote the parts on mammals and several other groups of animals, and edited many others. Written by the French-Algerian naturalist Paul Pallary (1869-1942) who was an important malacologist and shell-dealer in Northern Africa. Uncut. With the widest possble margins. Chip in the margin of the last 12 leaves of the second volume. The flimsy wrappers detached and much chipped, otherwise a very good, clean set.

Original printed front wrapper. = A very rare treatise by the French-Algerian naturalist Paul Pallary (1869-1942) who was an important malacologist and shell-dealer in Northern Africa. He also expressed a keen inte…rest in archaeology. "In 1892, in collaboration with the naturalist and prehistorian François Doumergue, he discovered several Palaeolithic and Neolithic sites located in the Orania region, notably the caves at Cuartel and Kouchet El Djir and the quarries of Eckmühl, known as the Alain shelter. Human traces estimated at 100,000 years were found in these caves . Numerous archaeological artefacts were collected. Some are deposited in the Ahmed Zabana Museum." (Wikipedia). Includes a large bibliography of 12 pages. Uncut, with very wide margins. Front wrapper and last text leaves chipped and frayed at edges, front free endpaper with a large tear, rear wrapper lacking, otherwise good, without library markings.
