The marriage of Miss Bergman and Signor Rossellini was contracted by proxy at Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, on May 24, 1950. Today the court found that at that time the actress, then a Swedish citizen, was under her country's legislation, still legally married to Dr. Peter Lindstrom, her first husband. Miss Bergman had obtained a Mexican divorce from him in February, 1950, but failed to have it registered in Sweden. Dr. Lindstrom later obtained a divorce from her in an American court and remarried. Today's verdict is not final The public prosecutor, who in an annulment action before an Italian civil court acts as "defensor of the marital bond," has thirty days to take the case before an appeal court.
