Lepape (Parigi, 1887-1971) si formò all'atelier Humbert, dove ebbe modo di frequentare alcuni dei migliori artisti della prima metà del Novecento, Braque, Picabia, Marie Laurencin. La sua opera risente nella stilizzazione della patente influenza delle stampe giapponesi. Fu collaboratore di varie riviste, fra cui Vogue, di cui disegnò moltissime copertine, disegnò apprezzati costumi teatrali per balletti e per l'Oiseau bleu di Maeterlinck, creò affiches e illustrò molti volumi.
